København, where the skies are blå and the øl is kalt

We arrived in Copenhagen on a cold, blue-sky day, when everyone in this city was out in front of the cafes and bars drinking beer and enjoying the new-found sun. We were able to take in the views from the Round Tower, before eating some smorrebrod, walking around the cobbled city, weaving in and out amongst the pedestrians and bicyclists, and now about to crash from no sleep. The best news of the day, however, is that Will made it safely to Taiwan — again with apparently no sleep — but he reports he is well and having the time of his life. Gotta go catch some sleep or this blog post will continue to make little sense. So god nat from Copenhagen central — a view of the famous spiral church steeple from my window — and sending love across the two oceans. Missing my little big boy… Oh yea, and that dog.

  1. Happy to hear that you’ve landed:). And, like you, very happy to hear that our kids have landed also in Taiwan! What’s the word for child(ren) in Danish? Do you hear much English in Denmark? How many words in Danish does Rick know? I’m sure he knows more than I do;).
Get some rest. We look forward to hearing about your days in Copenhagen.

    • God nat hope the air isn’t too cold sooooo glad you are safely wherever you are who me? worry?

  2. Tak (thank you) to all our wonderful mothers for writing. Yes Ma, we are in Copenhagen — it’s not too cold — 32 ish– but you definitely need a hat. Rick knows no Danish words but he still insists we go to King Lear in Danish tonight! 😉 and Everyone is pretty much fluent in English — except the Shakepearean actors. We had a great night sleep and are excited to explore the city today!

    • hi you two explorers hope it stays clear and sunny for you Rick should especially like his evening with the bard he is such a fan

  3. (so, I was the first Anonymous mom posting;).
How was King Lear? Can’t wait to hear.
Will you be staying in the same accommodations for the duration of your trip?

  4. Hahaahah! We thought you were Rick’s mom. Now Patty is n trouble for not even bothering to read… 🙂 we just got back from Lear — it was great — Cordelia and the Fool were not good, but it was well acted overall tho we have no idea what they said. There was this one actor who spoke English and we loved it when he took the stage, but it was a minor role … Also when he spoke French it was a great relief! Rick is still talking to me, so that is good. I’m sure he’ll blog on it… Uh oh, it looks like he’s blogging as we speak… It’s 12:15 am here now and 7 am in Taiwan so god nat and zao Shang hao!

  5. And child is barn, and children are bornene, I think. With an o and a shlash. Plurals are hard. Rick gave me a hard time for not using any Danish so I ordered two coffees tonight in Danish. And it worked!
